80,000 GPD Domestic Sewage Wastewater Plant

We are finishing up a domestic sewage wastewater plant for an industrial manufacturer in Lolita, Texas! This package uses an activated sludge treatment process, which is the most common form of secondary wastewater treatment. We started this project in December of 2011 and are excited to see it in its final stages. Inteplast Group was looking to replace its 60,000 GPD wastewater plant with an 80,000 GPD package.

Tertiary disk type filter with feed and backwash pumps is used to meet the stringent effluent discharge requirements of chemical industry standards. The disk filter systems use less horsepower. Tertiary disk type filters allow for removal of individual disks while the system is still operating, this makes O & M easy and efficient. The disk cloth filter is used for tertiary filtration, water re-use, process streams, and for surface water treatment.

Some features included for this project: mechanical clarifier, aeration basin, Duplex blowers, flow equalization chambers, digester and disinfection chambers, chlorine tablet disinfection feeder, disk type filter, automatic refrigerated sampler, and stainless steel control panel.

Chlorine Pressure Reducing Valve

Today we are highlighting our chlorine pressure reducing valve, the PRV-71H! Helping minimize chlorine gas from re-liquifying by controlling your downstream pressure issues!

The PRV-71H is a normally open, self actuating pressure reducing valve. Its purpose is to reduce and control downstream pressure. The valve will close if downstream pressure exceeds the set pressure.

The PRV-71H

  • prevents liquefaction and downstream pressure fluctuations. It also protects your other equipment from high pressures
  • allows for a quick adjustment of a compression spring to set a fixed outlet pressure
  • has an upper valve body that is provided with a vent connection. In the event that the diaphragm fails, the pressurized gas can be directed to an appropriate location.

Check it out the PRV-71H on our online store! Or download the brochure on Global Treat’s website!

For more information on our PRV-71H give us a call at 800-370-4410! Someone here at Global Treat looks forward to talking with you!

How can I enhance the safety of my chlorine gas feed systems at our Water and Wastewater Plant?

Pressurized chlorine gas leaks can be minimized with consideration and incorporation of one or both of the following system designs.

  1. The first option to consider is to directly mount the vacuum regulators to your chlorine or SO2 containers. If you have multiple containers  then you would need to mount  a vacuum regulator to each container. By using a chlorine vacuum manifold in lieu of a pressurized manifold you limit your exposure to liability. The regulators require a vacuum to open the inlet valve to feed gas. No vacuum, no gas.

Contact Global Treat, Inc. for help in assembling your vacuum manifold feed system.

  2. Another option to consider for enhancing the safety of your equipment is a chlorine container shut off valve system.  These Chlorine Emergency Shut Off Valves can be provided so one can open or close the actuators locally and/or remotely. They come standard with a manual override panic button on the control panel. This allows you to shut the valves in event of a gas detection failure. Global Treat, Inc. has a variety of these actuators complete with an optional chlorine gas detector to meet your system requirements.

To protect plant personnel, the public and minimize costly equipment damages, please contact Global Treat, Inc. for a safer chlorine feed system.

What is necessary to automate my chlorine gas feed system?

The answer to the question is the Hydro Instruments “Omni-Valve 110

Definition
Omni – Latin for all, every

And that’s exactly what you get with the latest in technology from Hydro Instruments Automatic Vacuum Chemical Feed Valve.

The Omni-Valve has the latest automated valve design technology, while keeping operator interface truly operator friendly. The display panel is a simple menu driven controller designed to allow the operator to navigate easily thru the automated valve. This allows for simple installation and conversion from manual to automated vacuum chemical (gas or liquid) feed systems. Offering seven different control modes and a variety of feed capacities, the Hydro Instruments Omni-Valve is an “All-in-one” automatic control valve.

The OV-110 Bragging Rights

  • compact design integrated valve and controller
  • microprocessor – based positioning feedback – no potentiometers
  • drive shaft only comes in contact with the teflon shaft seals and valve seat providing minimal friction/wear
  • “Self-Check” software verifies valve position automatically at operator selected frequency
  • long 3″ v-notch valve stem with multiple sizes for each capacity range provides optimal resolution
  • designed for automated vacuum feed of various gasses and liquid chemicals
  • several control modes:
    -manual
    -automatic Flow Proportional
    -automatic Set-Point Residual (or ORP)
    -automatic Compound Loop (PID)
-automatic Step Feed (four step feed inputs max)
-automatic Dual Input Feed Forward (dechlorination or chloramination)
  • remote positioning control of valve via a third analog input when valve is in manual mode or to remotely adjust the dosage or set-point (depending on automatic control mode selected).
  • user adjustable alarms: loss of signal input, low flow, low residual and high residual
  • ten point valve linearization for precise calibration
  • for liquid feed applications the software includes an adjustable “purge” feature for periodically flushing debris and bubbles
  • additional features for compound loop control modes available (contact GTI)

Vacuum Dosing vs. Pressurized Disinfection Delivery Systems!

**CLICK ON IMAGE FOR PRODUCT BROCHURE**

The Delivery System:

In the last several years, Vacuum Chemical Dosing has captured interest over the conventional Pressure Feed Metering Pumps (diaphragm and peristaltic).

       Pressure Feed Metering Pumps

These are some of the disadvantages to pressure feed metering pumps:

  • Pumping a liquid requires that the lines in the system be pressurized, so pumping chemicals under pressure can be dangerous to personnel ( in event of a line break).
  • Diaphragm pumps are prone to off gassing when pumping 12.5% sodium hypo, which will form a vapor lock, and jam the operating mechanism in the pump.
  • Suction chemical piping should be kept as short as possible in order to guard against gasification.
  • All dosing pumps, must be continuously checked for crystallization within the wetted parts. These  parts can split and cause contamination of the area and danger to personnel.

*Pumps are the least expensive method of feeding chemicals in the lower feed ranges however the cost considerations of personnel safety, reliability , maintenance, cleanup, repair and possible spill alleviation should be taken into consideration. As the chemical rate increases the cost impact will favor the vacuum chemical dosing system.

       Vacuum Dosing

The Vacuum Dosing Series LF Liquid Chemical Feeders is a family of fully vacuum operated, chemical solution feed systems, consisting of the following components: a Metering Assembly, Venturi Nozzel and Back flow Prevention Device.

These are some of the advantages of Vacuum Dosing systems:

  • Minimal Maintenance-few moving parts
  • Accurate, reliable feed
  • Safe operation-Vacuum Feed
  • High stability flows, no pump pulsing
  • Good for up to 15% sodium hypochlorite and 20% sodium bisulphate solutions
  • Simple design and easy installation
  • Capable of handling chemical liquid flows from .5 gph -10 gpm
  • Visual indication of chemical feed rate

       Applications:

  • Sodium Hypo Feed
  • Chlorine Generated Sodium Hypo Systems
  • Dechlorination Sodium Bisulfite
  • Chlorine Dioxide Chemicals
  • Flourine Feed
  • Ammonia Feed
